DELIVERS FARM CREDIT MESSAGE

Charles 'Charlie' Spinetta, owner of Charles Spinetta Winery located in the Shenandoah Valley, Plymouth, California met with Congressman Bob Goodlatte, Chairman of the House Agriculture Committee at a recent reception in Lodi, California. Chairman Goodlatte, of Virginia, was visiting his sister and brother-in-law, Max and Barbara Steinheimer, where the event was held. Approximately 75 people, including Secretary of Agriculture Ann Veneman, were on hand to honor the Chairman.

Chairman Goodlatte complimented the System on its record in financing agriculture and the critical role Farm Credit plays in ensuring that agricultural producers, rural businesses and rural homebuyers have a choice of competitors vying to meet their financial needs. The Chairman also remarked that it is a pleasure to represent 'both' Shenandoah Valleys - making reference to his home state of Virginia and his new friends here in California.

Charlie Spinetta presented a Farm Credit PAC check to the Chairman and thanked him for his support on issues of importance to the Farm Credit System. The Charles Spinetta Winery is located in California’s Shenandoah Valley grape-growing region, and has been a valued AgCredit customer since 1973.

Connecting Farm Credit borrowers with members of Congress is a goal of the Communications Advocacy Program (CAP). AgCredit is in its second year of attending activities and events of this type bringing messages and information about the Farm Credit System to legislators and key audiences. AgCredit Director David Phippen, and Senior Vice President Bud Bensley, serve as the AgCredit Financial CAP Director and Coordinator.
