Davis) encourage local grape growers to plant more of this cultivar of Zinfandel because of its reliable crop and vitality. This dark wine has entrancing flavors of zesty cherry, clove and spice that kiss you on the back of the lips. The Primitivo is widely popular with our tasting room customers, Zinfandel fans, and even ZAP (Zinfandel Advocates and Producers) members are enthused about this grape. Some say Primitivo finishes like a Claret or a Cabernet. Ready to drink, "mature fruit" in five years – the finish commands attention as time passes and past vintages are for sale.
