THE BARBERA
The Barbera vine is vigorous, and harder to train. We do not trellis, so we may not finish "sculpting" a barbera vine until its seventh year. Leaves form a canopy for each grape vine. We crown thin some canes out so the canopy is not too dense, allowing for good air flow and sunlight while discouraging mildew and rot. Characteristics of The fruit has tough protective skins and acidic flavors true to the finished wine.

THE CHENIN BLANC
Bright leaves of the Chenin Blanc bathe in ample sunlight on Southwest facing hills. These grapes are in the "Fun & Yummy White," and Frost Wine. This varietal is popular in France and South Africa (a.k.a. Vouvray and Steen.) Chenin Blanc produces grapes with fresh, crisp flavors. The newsletter follows these grapes from bud break to harvest.
