"How did you think to put wildlife art on wine labels?" It was one of those friend of a friend things that just happened! Before the wildlife paintings, we used our logo as a motif. Click the links to change the image at right. Image One is the first label we used in stores, designed by artist Rod Ruthel (owner of French Hill Winery.) Image Two is a close up of a cherubs and grapes design that we were lucky to find on two bottles in the cellar. Image Three shows the mock-ups on plain paper, taped onto the bottles. We cannot find the original cherubs artwork by Rod. Image Four is the first Crush Party label produced.

Print History: Our first full-color label came from Charles, Joe, and a group of friends having dinner together. Joe presented his graphic art portfolio, and showed how well wildlife art would look on bottles. Accurate color replication was available for this application, and things fell into place.

Enormous flocks fill the sky at dusk and dawn. Senator John Begovich used to bring jelly doughnuts to our family on Sundays and watch the doves fly out at sunrise.

Our vineyards border the pine and oak forest of the Cosumnes River Canyon at about 1700' elevation. At the river, the nearest thing to civilization one can see is a wandering herd of cattle. This little dove is relaxing in the bough of one of those trees happily cooing away. This image was featured on the December 2004 cover of Quail Unlimited's Dove Hunter magazine.

Each limited edition, hand signed and numbered winery label print comes with an artist's biography. Some are available in a very limited Artist Proof series. Pencil or color remarques are available on select prints. Unframed prints are shrink-wrapped flat onto foam core, which protects the prints from wrinkling much better than the standard folio presentation. *Prices and availability are subject to change. ** A 3.5" x 2.25" mini wine label proof is in addition to the main image dimensions - only the Brown Dove print does not have a mini wine label proof.
