Original Egg Tempera on Masonite: Wooden Fence 22 1/2" x 14 1/2" (frame), pre-1978, $* Detail Frank Magsino (b. 1937) grew up in San Jose on Mindoro Is. in the Philippines. Like other detail-oriented artists in our gallery, Magsino sometimes uses single hair brushes to achieve great effects in lighting and perspective. Magsino worked for advertising agencies and national publications in the islands, and moved to the U.S.A. in 1968. Western art and movies influence his subject matter here. As a result, he garners national attention in the art world, and each of his miniature artworks are magnificent.

The painter's research includes visiting the site of planned work and actually feeling the mood he wishes to portray. He lives in Aztec, Arizona - an excellent location to study and paint Indian/Spanish cultures and the southwestern landscapes.
